Turmeric has been a mainstay in Indian curries for thousands of years, but it is a recent addition to most American spice racks. To the Indian culture turmeric is a symbol of prosperity and is considered as a whole body cleansing herb.


  • Infusion:

Use warm milk and add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Drink up to 3 cups a day.

  • Minor Wounds:

Wash area with soap and warm water. Sprinkle a bit of powdered herb onto the wound and lightly bandage.

In North America, turmeric is not a garden herb. It is grown from India to Indonesia.


An animal study showed that turmeric reduces fertility, but this experiment has not been replicated in human fertility. Turmeric’s anti clogging effects may cause a problem for those suffering with clotting disorders. See a doctor before using.
