PREPARATION:

  • Infusion:

Boil one cup of water and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried leaves. Steep for 10 minutes and drink one cup daily before bed or when you rise in the morning.

For a milder action, steep the pods. Steep 4 pods in a cup of warm water for 6 to 12 hours. Drink up to one cup daily before bed or when you rise in the morning.

  • Tincture:

Before bedtime or when you rise, use ½ to 1 teaspoon no more than a few days

Add sugar, honey and lemon to sweeten. You can also add peppermint, ginger, fennel, anise, chamomile, coriander, cardomon or licorice.

Although one species of senna grows in the eastern part of the United States, it is usually grown in the Tennevelly region of India, near its southern tip.
